Discernment — A Class on Telling God’s Voice from Your Own

March 20, 2027 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM EDT

Telling God’s voice apart from fear, old wounds, and wishful thinking.

Once you start listening for God, a new question shows up: how do you know it’s actually Him? What if it’s just your own fear? Or an old wound talking? Or wishful thinking?

This is especially hard for people who’ve had their trust broken. When you’ve been burned, your instinct is to second-guess everything — including the voices worth listening to. This class teaches practical discernment markers and builds the skill of telling God’s voice apart from the noise, without dismissing your own instincts or pretending certainty you don’t have.

What we’ll cover

  • Why discernment is especially hard for people with a history of broken trust
  • The markers: consistency with Scripture, fruit, peace vs. anxiety, confirmation
  • Caution around claims like angelic encounters — not dismissing, but not accepting uncritically
  • The difference between healthy skepticism and hypervigilance
  • A guided practice using discernment-focused prompts

This class is for you if…

  • You second-guess yourself constantly — especially about spiritual things
  • You’ve been burned by someone who claimed to speak for God
  • You want to trust what you’re hearing but don’t know how to verify it
  • You’re afraid of being deceived again — by a person, a church, or even your own mind
  • You want discernment to be a skill you can build, not a talent you either have or don’t

This class holds both head and heart. If you’re carrying something heavier than a single class can hold, that’s exactly what 1-on-1 coaching is for.

About Kristen

Kristen Davis holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion and an MA in Christian Apologetics. She’s the founder of DoubtLess Faith and has spent years helping people work through the intellectual and emotional barriers that keep them from connecting with God — including the shame so many carry around their own doubt. She’s the kind of person you can ask the questions you’ve been afraid to ask out loud.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any background in theology or philosophy?

No. This class is designed to meet you where you are — no prerequisites, no assumed knowledge. If you’re coming in curious or skeptical, you’re in exactly the right place.

Is this a church service or devotional?

No. There’s no altar call, no pressure to reach a particular conclusion, and no assumption that your doubt is a problem to fix by the end of the hour.

What if what comes up feels bigger than a single class can hold?

That’s common, and this class is meant to be a starting point, not the whole path. If what surfaces needs more space than an hour allows, 1-on-1 coaching is built for exactly that kind of deeper work.

What if I’m not ready to register yet?

No problem. If you’re still deciding, join the email list and I’ll send you a short overview of what we’ll cover. No pressure — just the information.
