What Does a Relationship with God Actually Mean — A Class on Knowing God Personally

January 16, 2027 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM EST

If all you’re doing is reading His letters to other people and hanging out with His other friends — is that really a relationship?

Ask most Christians what a relationship with God looks like and you’ll hear some version of: pray, read your Bible, go to church, meditate on Scripture. But here’s the thing — that answer sounds almost identical to how a Muslim or a Mormon would describe their practice. If the description of a “relationship” with God could belong to any religion, is it actually describing a relationship?

This class challenges the standard definition and makes the biblical case that God’s design for relationship was always meant to be two-way — not just you talking to Him, but Him communicating back. From Eden to Revelation, the pattern is consistent: God pursues direct, personal connection with people. If that’s the design at the beginning and the promise at the end, why would the in-between be any different?

What we’ll cover

  • Why the standard “pray, read, attend” definition falls short of what Scripture describes
  • Adam and Eve recognized God’s footsteps — that’s familiarity, not formality
  • The end goal is face-to-face dwelling
  • God’s interactions were never only about transmitting information

This class is for you if…

  • Your faith feels more like a routine than a relationship
  • You’ve done all the “right things” — prayed, read, attended — and still feel distant from God
  • You’ve wondered whether a real, personal relationship with God is even possible
  • You’ve heard people describe hearing from God and quietly wondered if that’s real
  • You want more than information about God — you want to actually know Him

This class holds both head and heart. If you’re carrying something heavier than a single class can hold, that’s exactly what 1-on-1 coaching is for.

About Kristen

Kristen Davis holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion and an MA in Christian Apologetics. She’s the founder of DoubtLess Faith and has spent years helping people work through the intellectual and emotional barriers that keep them from connecting with God — including the shame so many carry around their own doubt. She’s the kind of person you can ask the questions you’ve been afraid to ask out loud.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any background in theology or philosophy?

No. This class is designed to meet you where you are — no prerequisites, no assumed knowledge. If you’re coming in curious or skeptical, you’re in exactly the right place.

Is this a church service or devotional?

No. There’s no altar call, no pressure to reach a particular conclusion, and no assumption that your doubt is a problem to fix by the end of the hour.

What if what comes up feels bigger than a single class can hold?

That’s common, and this class is meant to be a starting point, not the whole path. If what surfaces needs more space than an hour allows, 1-on-1 coaching is built for exactly that kind of deeper work.

What if I’m not ready to register yet?

No problem. If you’re still deciding, join the email list and I’ll send you a short overview of what we’ll cover. No pressure — just the information.
